    Iron Bound Teak Chest From Rajasthan - 19th Century

    This large chest stands on four turned legs. The beautifully patinated teakwood is reinforced with iron binding. Handles on every side of this chest mean it could have been lifted fully laden by four people if needed. 

    Chests and boxes from India are found in an extraordinary variety of styles reflecting the many cultures that influenced India. They were used for storing valuables such as textiles, jewelry and cash.
